YA YA Readers




The Ya-Ya Readers

  This year a new Teachers' Book Club has formed at Park Crest Middle School. Librarians, Glenda Harlow and Marsha Saucier, have formed the Ya Ya Readers, short for Young Adult Readers. They are reading the books from the current Texas Lone Star Reading List and discussing ways the books can be incorporated into the curriculum. The club meets after school every 3 weeks. An added bonus is that teachers are better able to identify with what middle schoolers are reading and can engage them in book conversations. It's a win/win- teachers have fun reading and discussing the books and students see their teachers as readers.
